The Mauritian
High Commissioner Mr. Mookhesswur Choonee has termed relations between
India and Mauritius as those of Mother and Son. They are two bodies
having one soul. India has always been helpful in the development
of Mauritius which has lot of scope for investment there.
Mr. Choonee was addressing the ARSP gathering on the subject : “India-
MauritiusRelations” He, along with his wife Mrs. Devika Choonee
had come to Bhopal for the first time on an invitation of Antar
Rashtriya Sahayog Parishad, Bhopal Unit, on October 24, 2008.
Praising the work of ARSP in developing relations among the people
of Indian origin all over the world, he said Mauritius is famous
for tourism. Indians, particularly residing in Madhya Pradesh, could
invest in Medical tourism, Hospitals, Restaurants, Information Technology
and other fields in Mauritius.
FAST TRACK PROMISED
Mr. Choonee assured that it would not take more than 72
hours to complete formalities and issuing permission to establish
industries there. His country was the entrance to reach South Africa
for business. Tourism and Sugarcane were the main source of income
for Mauritius, he added.
CULTURAL FIXED DEPOSIT
He said : “We have not only safeguarded our(Indian)
culture, but have also ensured that the next generation also imbibes
the same values. That is our greatest strength.”
Earlier, Mr. Choonee was welcomed by the President of ARSP Bhopal
Unit, Mr. Kailash Agrawal. He was presented a memento. Mr. Sunil
Sood, Mayor of Bhopal Municipal Corporation, Mr. I.S. Chauhan, Patron
of ARSP and Mr. Rajendra Joshi, Vice President of ARSP also spoke.
Kailash Gaur Secretary and P.N. Sakalle, Treasurer garlanded the
honourable guests and a vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Sakalle.
After the function Mr.Choonee and his wife were taken to Bhojpur
and Bheembetka, the places of oldest and biggest Bhojpur Shiv Temple
and world heritage rock paintings. The couple was deeply impressed
to see them. They made a courtesy call on the Hon’ble Governor,
Mr. Balram Jakhar.
He addressed the Public Relations Society of India, Bhopal Chapter
and Bhopal Chamber of Commerce and industries meetings as well and
there also were presented mementos.
