ANTAR-RASHTRIYA SAHAYOG NYAS(TRUST)


The Antar-Rashtriya Sahyog Nyas(TRUST) was registered with Shri Baleshwar Agarwal donating the entire money received by him on his 'Amrit Mahotsav'.Subsequently,he received two more awards,which was also donated to the Nyas fund.

The Trust is dedicated to the objective of maintaining and strengthening India's cultural heritage abroad through constant interaction with the Indian Diaspora and through academic research,seminars,conferences and exchange of visits.

The Nyas decided to institute an award for a Person of Indian Origin or Non-Resident Indian sfor outstanding service to the Indian society in India or abroad.

A Selection Committee consisting of eminent persons was formed to recommend an International PIO/NRI of pre-eminence who could be honoured by the Trust with the award known as:

BHARATVANSHI GAURAV AWARD

The Award for 2004 was presented to Shri Ranjith Ramnarain of the Republic of South Africa by Dr.Navinchandra Ramgoolam,Prime Minister of Mauritius,on 25th October,2005.The next Award for 2005 was presented to Shri Satnarayan Maharaj of Trinidad & Tabago by Shri Inder Kumar Gujral,former Prime Minister of India,on 23rd December,2006.The third award was given to Dr.Thomas Abraham ,founder Chairman of Global Organisation of People of Indian Origin was given by Shri Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, former Vice President of India on 4th January 2008.The award carries Rs.One lakh in cash,a citation,a plaque and a shawl.

The A.R.S.P.has created a cell to cater to the requirements of people of Indian Origin,living in different parts of the world,whose fore-fathers had gone as indentured labourers,and who now want to know location of their native place and any surviving relatives in India.
