In pursuance of the objectives, the Parishad has undertaken the following programmes---

Assist and Co-operate with the Government of India in the exchange of philosophers, scholars, educationists, artists, social workers and writers between India and other countries.

Organise art and cultural shows and pilgrimage tours for visitors including students who have come to study in India.

Arrange accommodation and living facilities for students especially of Indian Origin in Indian families to enable them to settle down and familiarise themselves with the Indian way of life.

Raise funds to complete construction of "PRAVASI BHAWAN" for which the buliding is coming up at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg (Rouse Avenue),New Delh, but we are still short of funds..

Promote literature and provide information on the rich cultural life in India.

Bring out journals, newsletters ,books and pamphlets for distribution within the country and abroad with a view to promote the objectives of the Parishad.

Organise orientation programmes for the Indian scholars and delegations going abroad and equip them with the basic knowledge of cultural and social aspects of India and countries they visit.

Bring to the notice of the Government and also promote an awareness among the general people about the problems of Indians abroad.

Arrange seminars and meetings by eminent scholars, social workers, politicians and students from other countries and India on topics of mutual interest.

Arrange receptions to foreign dignitaries who visit India and exchange notes with them on the cultural, social and economic life of the people abroad ,specially people of Indian origin.

Sponsor delegations to foreign countries to study and have a better understanding of the people of those countries.

Establish contacts with foreign diplomatic missions of various countries in India as also with the departments dealing with foreign affairs in India.

 
PRAVASI BHAWAN

The ARSP , from its inception, has been planning to build Pravasi Bhawan,which will have a Reference Library and Research Centre for the Indian Diaspora.

The Government of India allotted about 600 sq.yrds (10 x 47.6 metres) of land at 50-Deen Dayal Upadhayay Marg,New Delhi-110002. Possession of which was handed over to us on May 6,2002.

The Foundation Stone of the building was laid by the then Prime Minister of India, Sh. Atal Bihari Vajpayee,on December 14,2003

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) finally approved the drawings for the Pravasi Bhawan on 14th September,2006. The construction work started in January 2007 and the basement has been completed in July 2007. It is expected to be complete by the year -end.
